How can I reduce risks around making someone redundant?

If you are thinking of making an employee's position redundant, you need to:

  • inform you are thinking of making their position redundant
  • give your commercial reasons for the redundancy
  • let the affected employee comment on your reasons before you make a final decision about the redundancy

Your employee can't stop a redundancy process. As long as you are not dismissing for performance related reasons, an employee won't be able to stop a redundancy.
