What is an injunction?
An injunction is now more commonly called an emergency application. Relief of this nature is available to a party who can establish that it will suffer irreparable harm unless that interim order is made and that damages (i.e. the payment of money) would not otherwise be an adequate remedy. They must also establish that they have a genuine claim. An example of an injunction is a direction stopping another party settling the sale of a property, demolishing a building, or transferring funds. It would normally be necessary to have available comprehensive evidence in support of an injunction application.
