Online Security

Your online safety is important to us and we appreciate that when dealing with personal matters, how your information is handled and looked after is a key consideration. We also understand that “scams” are on the rise, so we have pulled together a few tips, to help keep you safe online.

  • Our team will only ever email you from an email address with the domain name "@turnerhopkins.co.nz”. If you receive an email from us, that doesn’t look right, double check the email address - even if it has our name make sure it is coming from our domain name (the correct email address).

  • If we ask you to send us information by email and you would rather send it in a different way, then get in touch with us, so we can work out an alternative that you feel comfortable with.

  • We will never ask you to divulge passwords or other information via email. If you receive an email from us, requesting that sort of information, please check the sender details and contact us directly.

  • If you are ever unsure as to the nature of a request that we have sent you or you just want to confirm the details, email law@turnerhopkins.co.nz or the staff member you deal with regularly and be able to discuss your concerns.

  • We take scam attempts very seriously and so if you receive an email from someone claiming to be “Turner Hopkins” the address appears to be fake or ‘spoofed’, we want to know. You can forward any suspicious emails to law@turnerhopkins.co.nz or directly to the lawyer or support staff team member you deal with most regularly.

  • If in doubt, find out. We are more than happy to confirm if an email or request has come directly from us, or if it might be someone pretending to be us.

You can also employ some really simple tools to help protect yourself online more generally, including the use of strong passwords, multi-factor authentication and password managers to help protect your data and your details from the online world.
